Golden
Alaska Pure Deep Sea Fish Oil
Omega-3 (EPA/DHA)
It was in the late
1970's when the nearly nonexistent incidence of heart disease was studied among
the Greenland Eskimos, despite their very high fat diet. The answer to the puzzle
lay in their universally large consumption of cold water fish. The reason oils
from cold water fish are so beneficial is because they contain substanial amounts
of Omega-3 fatty acids; namely eicosahexaenoic acid (epa) and docosahexaenoic
acid (dha). EPA and DHA keep deposits of saturated fatty acids and cholesterol
from gluing up our arteries. They also keep platelets from getting sticky and
lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) while increasing HDL cholesterol (good
cholesterol). Fish oil also makes a useful, completely natural adjunct to the
treatment of arthritis. A group of eicosanoids called leukotrienes have been
idetified as mediators of inflamation and the pain which accompanies this affliction.
By supplementing the diet with Omega-3 rich fish oil, formation of these leukotrienes
is remarkably suppressed.
